Aftermarket imaging supplies vendor Katun has been acquired by Taiwan-listed General Plastic Industrial (GPI).

The deal will add three of the US firm’s geographic business units to the operations of toner manufacturer GPI, as well as ten distribution and warehouse locations, and more than 20 global sales offices.

Following the transaction, Katun CEO Robert Moore will remain in place along with the rest of the management team.

The transaction requires the approval of GPI shareholders and regulatory approval by the Taiwanese government. Financial details were not disclosed.

It follows a spate of remanufacturer acquisitions by South East Asian vendors in the past few months, including the buyout of Malaysia-listed stationery group Pelikan by Chinese firm Print-Rite for around $7 million.
