Nebraska Auditors Find Overcharges, State to Rebid and Open Office Supplies Contract to Office Depot Competitors (4/28/2008)

That State of Nebraska Department of Administrative Services (DAS) has announced that it will open its office supplies contract and invite Office Depot's competitors to bid on the $4.5 million contract.

Mike Foley, the state auditor for Nebraska, issued a detailed report and press release showing that Office Depot has made serious pricing errors and overcharged State government agencies for office supplies under its $4.5 million sole-source contract.  NOPA has obtained a copy of the lengthy report.  The report's findings are now available.

Foley and his auditors also have talked with University of Nebraska officials, which has a separate $3.5 million contract with Office Depot.  University officials have engaged a private firm to review the billings submitted by Office Depot to the University.
